From hotel REITs to online betting stocks, here’s your World Cup guide to investing

As fans pick their favourites to win the World Cup, financial analysts are picking sectors they think could see a spike from the summer’s biggest sporting event.

The tournament is expected to add around 0.1 percentage points to quarterly annualized GDP growth in the U.S. and Canada, mostly concentrated in host cities, according to a BMO Economics report, which was released on June 1. It did not include GDP numbers for Mexico.
